From Ideas to Impact: Yofo Medical Welcomes USTC Innovation Camp
Yofo Medical welcomed students from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) Innovation Camp for an inside look at the journey from scientific research to real-world entrepreneurship.
Through first-hand experience, open discussion and knowledge sharing, the visit offered students a closer view of how ideas can evolve into technologies, products and meaningful solutions for healthcare.

Learning beyond the classroom
Organised by USTC’s School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Innovation Camp is designed to strengthen students’ practical understanding of innovation and entrepreneurship.
Its training covers key areas including team development, product innovation, startup operations, project management, finance, investment and legal fundamentals, helping participants build a broader understanding of what it takes to move an idea forward.
The visit to Yofo Medical brought this learning into a real business environment, giving students an opportunity to see how technology, clinical needs, product development and company building come together.
Sharing experience from research to entrepreneurship

During the visit, Yofo Medical founder Dr. Lei Zhu shared experiences from his own journey across academic research, medical imaging innovation and entrepreneurship.
Having served as a professor at USTC, Dr. Zhu spoke with students about the realities behind building a technology company, from navigating uncertainty in the early stages and overcoming technical challenges to developing a team and translating research into products with real clinical value.
Rather than presenting entrepreneurship as a single breakthrough, the discussion focused on the continuous process of testing ideas, solving problems and learning through practice. |

At Yofo Medical, this approach has supported innovation across medical imaging fields including dental CBCT and breast CBCT, with a wider goal of making advanced imaging technologies more accessible and useful in real clinical environments.
Seeing innovation in practice
Students also explored Yofo Medical’s development journey, team structure, imaging technologies and product portfolio.
Seeing a medical technology company from the inside gave them a different perspective on entrepreneurship. Innovation is not only about creating a new idea. It also requires engineering discipline, clinical understanding, collaboration and the ability to turn technology into something that works reliably for people.
For students considering their own entrepreneurial paths, this connection between research and real-world application can be as valuable as the technology itself.
Inspiring the next generation
For Yofo Medical, social impact extends beyond the technologies we develop.
It also means sharing experience, creating opportunities for young people to engage with industry and helping future innovators understand both the possibilities and responsibilities that come with building new technologies.
By supporting exchanges with universities such as USTC, Yofo hopes to encourage more students to explore entrepreneurship with curiosity, resilience and a clear sense of purpose.
The next generation of healthcare innovation will be shaped by people who are willing to ask difficult questions, challenge existing limits and turn good ideas into meaningful solutions.
Sometimes, that journey begins simply by seeing what is possible.
